If you are a college student a have looked at gym membership and thought “holy shit” you’re not alone. One month alone can range from $20-75 and I simply do not have that kind of money. If you are lucky and don’t have to pay for a gym membership at your University’s gym, you may still be intimated to go. Many women are very intimidated to go to a gym because they may get guys looking them up and down, being creepy, or they just don’t want to look stupid. These thoughts are totally valid, but do not let this stop you from prioritizing your health and wellness! Here are some of my favorite workouts to do without a gym membership and here’s a secret: you will still get a good sweat 😉
Running
Shocker. If you have any of my last posts, you will know how much I love running. I could go on and on about the health benefits. One of the greatest things about running is that it is free… as long as you have good weather. Remember that everyone is runner, no matter how fast or far you can run. The most important thing is to just get out there. You can run a few times around your block or map out a long run. Check out this post to learn about my running journey and here to find out my tips for new runners.
YouTube Videos
Does this surprise you? Because I was sure surprised. I came across these, especially during COVID. There are so many YouTube workout videos that provide you with a great sweat. Really all you need to is a computer/TV and some space. These are typically High-Intensity Interval Trainings but I have found some really great yoga and pilates channels. My favorite yoga channel is Yoga with Adrienne and my favorite pilates channel is Move with Nicole. There are even dance party videos for One Direction and Disney movies: I have never sweat more than I did during those videos. My #1 rec for a workout channel is MadFit. She has cardio, strength, and stretching videos that are well produced and easy to follow. Her videos are so fun you may not even know that you’re working out!
Walks
No seriously. Walks are a great way to do some exploring while also burning quite a few calories. I have a whole post about the hot girl walk to learn more in depth.
Workout Apps
There are plenty of great free workout apps that guide you through a high intensity interval workout. My personal favorite is 7 minute workout. This is perfect if you are in a time crunch because lets face it we are all busy and sometimes all we have is 7 minutes. You’d be surprised how out of breath you’ll be after this. I usually do the work out 2 or 3 times.
