Overall, running is not an expensive sport. You kind of just get out there and go for it. If you are interested getting started running, I’d for sure check out my post with tips for new runners. There are a few things I would recommend purchasing to elevate your running experience or just make your life a whole lot easier.
A Running Belt
I like to run with music or a podcast. Therefore it is pretty essential that I have my phone on me. I also like to have my phone on me for safety reasons too. For a long time I would run with my phone in my hand. While this might be fine for shorter runs, getting a running belt really was a game changer.
Mine is from New Balance and when I tell you I can not even feel that the belt is there I really mean it. It can hold my keys, phone and my pepper spray (be very afraid of me). I would 10/10 recommend this no matter what stage of running you are in.

Energy Goo
You might be wondering what in gods name energy goo. Simply explained it is calories. If you are doing any sort of long distanced training definitely pick a few of these up so you can finish your run and not feel like utter shit. It is recommended to use a goo every 45 minutes. I usually use mine at mile 4.5 when I am running 6 miles or more. If you do not like the sensation of goos there are also energy gummies too. My favorite flavor is vanilla and it actually tastes good.

A Good Sports Bra
This kind of goes without saying but I thought I’d still mention how crucial a good sports bra is. I have literally no boobs but I can still tell when I have a good sports bra and when I have a crappy one. A big tip: when looking at sports bra you will want to look a high impact bras. Although medium and low impact bras are fine, high impact just works the best. Nike has amazing sports bra and well as surprisingly Old Navy too.

A Good Pair of Running Shoes
I said it once and I will say it again. Get. Good. Running. Shoes. This is the number one game changer if you are feeling any sort of pain when you are running. A new pair of shoes will probably cure any knee, shin, or calf pain that you might have. These are the most expensive thing on this list but arguably the most important.
My tip is to go to a place where they have professionals fit you for a shoe. They can tell you what is best for you. Please do not skimp out when it comes to shoes. If you can see yourself running two or more times a week definitely invest.

Something to Track Your Run
We all want to know how far we are going right? One of my best running investments was an Apple Watch. If you aren’t an apple user or don’t want to pay the price Garmin and FitBit have awesome options too. With the Apple Watch I am able to tell my average mile pace, what my current mile pace is at, how far I’ve gone, calories I’ve burned and so much more.
One of the most rewarding parts about running is to being able to track your progress. I am able to see virtually every run I’ve done and its so cool to see how far I’ve come. If you are debating which series of Apple Watch to get I’d say the series 3 is perfectly fine and I don’t see myself ever needing anything more.
