Sometimes during the cooler months, all you want to do is grab your favorite sweatshirt and sweatpants and curl up on the couch. I totally get that, but if you know anything about me, you know that I fully believe in the power of getting ready in the morning.
That being said, I have some winter laying tips to create cute outfits that will boost your confidence and your mood. So, put down that sweatshirt and pick up a turtleneck, because you are going to need it.

Teddy Coats
These jackets are all of the rage right now and not only are they super cute, but they also keep you very warm outside. This makes it the perfect piece to layer over a sweater, turtleneck, t-shirt or whatever else you are wearing that day.
Every time I put on my teddy coat, I instantly feel like I have spiced up my outfit.

Jean Jackets
A classic layering technique is grabbing that jean jacket! Most people have a jean jacket lying around, but if not, the best place to start is your local thrift store. I have found every jean jacket that I have ever owned at a thrift store for under $10.
That being said, jean jackets can go over almost ANYTHING.
During this chilly season, throw it on over a sweater or sweatshirt and pair with jeans, leggings, or joggers for a cute yet comfortable style!
T-shirts
Yeah, yeah. I know that t-shirts are not the logical first choice for winter, but when done right, they can be both cute and warm. My personal favorite is throwing a t-shirt over a turtleneck, but long sleeve shirts work as well.
The look works well with vintage-style shirts or ones that are distressed, but I have also seen it with favorite graphics t-shirts as well.
Dresses
One of my recent discoveries is that I can layer turtlenecks underneath my summer dresses to create a look that is both trendy and warm.
I typically pair mine with a trendy jacket and booties as well. If you want to stay extra warm, try some fleece lined nude leggings!
Slip dresses are very popular for this style, but I have worn ones that are more flowy as well such as this one from target that I wore my for family Christmas party…
Plain Shirts for Layering
When it comes to layering, the key is having things that go with a lot that you can use. Here are some of my Amazon favorites…
