If you’re in a book rut, summer reads are the way to go! I’d describe a summer read as a book that is an easy read, and one that you don’t have to be super invested in to understand (ie minimal characters and plot lines). I’ve accumulated 7 books that are perfect to add to your list. We have some romance, drama, and mystery. You are bound to find something you like.
1. The Hating Game By: Sally Thorton
This book does not disappoint. This is your classic enemies-to-lovers plot line but with the setting of a workplace. When two co-workers fight for the boss’s right-hand man spot things get tricky… and steamy ;). You will not be able to put this book down and you will fall in love with the characters.

2. Someone We Know By: Shari Lapena
A series of neighborhood burglaries lead to murder, and everyone is a suspect. Someone We Know is quite suspenseful with a major plot twist. There is lots of drama and a reminder that life may be different behind closed doors. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, but it is also very fast-moving.

3. Beach Read By: Emily Henry
This book is quite literally the perfect book to bring to the beach. This novel describes the story of two authors that were college writers trying to grieve and get each other out of writer’s block. This book melted my heart and I hope I can find my own Agustus Watters someday.

4. Party of Two By: Jasmine Guillory
Do you believe in love at first sight? I am for sure a skeptic but not after this book. After a flirtatious night, a bar Olivia’s world is turned upside down when she realizes hotshot senator Max Powell wants to take her out. This book is a great take on what happens when love meets politics. This gives me major Scandal vibes, and the main character reminds me of Olivia Pope.

5. The Last Mrs. Parrish By: Liv Constantine
All I have to say is holy shit. I read this book in 2 days. What happens when one woman gets bored of her life and decides to steal someone else’s? This book tells the story of deception, power, wealth, and manipulation. This is THE book to get you out of a reading rut. I promise you will not be able to put it down.

6. The Unhoneymooners By: Christina Lauren
2 people are the only ones not to get food poisoning at a wedding, so they are forced to take the honeymoon… oh and did I mention that they hate each other. Another classic enemies-to-lovers story that is a breeze to get through, and it helps that the setting is in Hawaii. What more do you want in a summer read?

7. One of Us is Lying By: Karen M. McManus
This book is The Breakfast Club but make it a murder mystery. After school detention turns into murder and each kid is a suspect. They’ve never met each other, but know they didn’t do it. This is for sure more YA than it is adult fiction. But who doesn’t love a good high school drama story?
