It is so easy to get caught up in the idea of having no plans. When there is a day off from requirements, most people see that as a day to sleep in, a day to watch Netflix, and a day to just relax. Do not get me wrong, that is all perfect, but it is important to still have a routine on days with no plans.
Day Off Activities
The way that I like to look at it is if I have nothing on my calendar when I wake up, it is just space for me to fill in with things that are productive and also positive self care. Here are some of my favorite “day off” activities…
- Go for a walk or run outside
- Read a devotional or a good book
- Treat myself to a homemade spa day
- Meal prep for the week
- Run errands
- Workout
- Clean and organize room
- Fill out my planner for the week
Doing things like this make me feel good about what I did with my day, but also allow me to relax. I think it is important to balance those things as well.
Schedule of a Day Off
Although it is a day with “no plans”, the first thing I do when I wake up is plan out my day. If you know anything about me, it is that I am a list maker, so I make my list and schedule out the day.
Recently, I posted on Instagram my “sleeping in” morning routine. I had no plans in the morning, so I capitalized on the ability to have time for self care.
My schedule that morning included…
Waking up naturally
Making my bed and cleaning my room right away
Brushing my teeth
Going through my skincare routine
Making coffee
Planning the rest of my day
Even though there was nothing that technically needed to be done, I wanted to feel like I accomplished things with my day.
Small tasks are the best way to start because you feel successful right off the bat. These include things like making your bed and picking up things off of the floor. You feel like you are off to a good start & your space reflects your productive energy as well.
